Given below is the Romans Road to Salvation: a selection of Bible verses from the book of Romans that present the plan of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. References are from the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB).
The Problem
All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory.
Romans 3:22-24
22 —that is, God’s righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ, to all who believe, since there is no distinction. 23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 They are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
The Scriptures tell us, “No one is acceptable to God!”
- Romans 3:10
10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one.
- Romans 3:10
The Consequences
Sin entered the world, because one man sinned. And death came because of sin. Everyone sinned, so death came to all people.
- Romans 5:12
12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned.
- Romans 5:12
When people sin, they earn what sin pays—death. But God gives his people a free gift—eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Romans 6:23
The Scope
There are things about God that people cannot see—his eternal power and all the things that make him God. But since the beginning of the world those things have been easy to understand. They are made clear by what God has made. So people have no excuse for the bad things they do.
- Romans 1:20
20 For His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what He has made. As a result, people are without excuse.
- Romans 1:20
The Solution
- Romans 5:8
8 But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!
- Romans 5:8
The Response
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
- Romans 10:9-10
9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
- Romans 10:9-10
If you would like to accept Christ as your personal savor, you can pray a simple prayer like the one below.
Sample prayer:
Heavenly Father, I have sinned against You. I want forgiveness of all my sins. I believe Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again. Father, I give You my life to do with as You wish. I want Jesus Christ to come into my life and in to my heart. I ask this in Jesus name. Amen.
The Assurance
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
- Romans 10:13
13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
- Romans 10:13
The Result
Since we have been acquitted and made right through faith, we are able to experience true and lasting peace with God through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, the Liberating King.
- Romans 5:1
1Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Romans 5:1
Those who belong to Christ Jesus are no longer under God’s judgment.
- Romans 8:1
1Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus,
- Romans 8:1
I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Romans 8:38-39
38For I am persuaded that not even death or life,
angels or rulers,
things present or things to come, hostile powers,
39 height or depth, or any other created thing
will have the power to separate us
from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!
- Romans 8:38-39
